The marketplace, named on purpose
Amazon launches a platform named after it — tasks a computer can't yet do get routed to humans for cents apiece. The company calls them Human Intelligence Tasks. Everyone involved gets the joke and ships it anyway.

On the 14th, a notice goes out. The platform stops accepting new customers on the 30th. Twenty years of human judgment, folded into a box marked Intelligence, is moved to the list marked Maintenance. No severance for a ghost. No thank-you for the box.
