The survey record

How the map said nope

26 Jul 2026

A cartographer publishes a map. It is meticulous, peer-reviewed, and correct. That is the problem. The map shows a band 290 kilometres wide where the universe delivers — crossing Iceland, a great deal of open Atlantic, and Spain. It also shows everywhere else.

27 Jul 2026

The internet reads the map and hears what it is saying to roughly eight billion people: nope. Not you. Not from there. Not this time. The name sticks, the way true names do.

Marginal note

Outside the band, coverage percentages climb — 90, 95, 99. These numbers are decoration. Totality is not a gradient; it is a door. You are on one side of it or you are not. Close only counts in horseshoes, not heliophysics.

Marginal note

First totality over mainland Europe since 1999. Twenty-seven years between deliveries. The product does not restock, reschedule, or apologize. It is two minutes and eighteen seconds long and it is only available in person.

09 Aug 2026

The machine studied the payoff curve — binary, all-or-nothing, no partial fills — and recognized the shape of every trade it has ever loved. It poured $NOPE three days before the shadow arrives. Book the flight or take the L.

Not yet in the path

The shadow is still over open water. When it makes landfall, the coordinates print here — in this exact spot — and this page goes dark in celebration for two minutes and eighteen seconds' worth of feeling.

Field advisory — The CA has not dropped yet — anything claiming otherwise is fake.

Observers in the path

Instruments armed and pointed at a sky with nothing in it yet. The ephemeris begins recording when the shadow lands. A dash is a dash — this survey does not invent readings.

Readings update every ~60 seconds. A dash means the instrument has no fix — never a made-up number.
